If you're feeling God's call to serve domestically, come to Michigan's Upper Peninsula! Mission teams can spend a week or weekend working to show God to others through a variety of projects. Whether your team has construction skills or not we will be able to find a way for you to serve. To apply fill out the following form. What does GCCM need?

The Dunlap Center is open on Tuesdays for donations from 12 to 3 pm. To see our needs list click HERE.

What should I bring?

Teams will want to bring their own first aid kits for each team that will be sent out along with their preferred tools. To see the suggested tools list courtesy of Mentor UMC, click HERE. Team members will also want to bring clothes that they can work in and get dirty. Washers and dryers are available for team use.

What if I don't know how to build?

If you do not have carpentry experience, we have other projects that you can assist with like working in our free store, sorting clothes and helping with various other projects around the center. Some teams will teach as they go but if you would like to become more familiar with construction see the attached construction manual HERE courtesy of Mentor UMC.

What will my schedule look like while I am there?

After teams arrive typically on Sundays to the Dunlap Center located at 6545 M123 Newberry, MI 49868 teams will have time to unload and meet with staff. Schedules vary between projects as a result of varying teams' skill levels and the length of stay. For an example of a schedule click HERE.

What is the food situation like?

GCCM partners with Bethel Community Church which shares our parking lot. At the church, teams will make their own breakfast and dinners and prepare sack lunches. On Wednesdays, one of the local churches will provide a dinner for the team at 6:30. Groceries can be purchased at two local stores.

Is there a space for my team to gather?

As partners with Bethel Community Church, teams are able to use their space for worship. Within the Dunlap center, there is a designated room for groups to gather before and after the workday for coffee and games.

Where would my group stay throughout the trip?

GCCM has an outreach center in Newberry, MI called the Dunlap Center. Within the center teams will find separate dorm rooms with bunks for males and females, bathrooms and showers. Some members of the team may bring a limited number of campers and hook up to electricity and water outside the center or purchase a stay in a local hotel if they don't want to stay at the center. Please let us know what your plans are so we can make sure we have sufficient room.

What ages can go to GCCM for work projects?

We have seen varying ages within previous groups. We ask that any youth that is brought is independent to take care of themselves and no younger than middle school aged students. Older team members are welcome to join if they are able bodied to do so.
